Riders University honers three time superbike champion and trainer of motorcycle riders - Reg Pridmore.
Background
Riders University, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) charity with a mission of motorcycle awareness and rider training. Riders U wanted build a tribute bike in honor of Reg Pridmore, 3 time AMA Superbike Champion and owner of CLASS, a top motorcycle rider training school.
The Tribute
Vetter race team's KZ 1000, ridden by Reg Pridmore, built and tuned by Pierre Des Roaches, earned Pridmore his 3rd Superbike Championship in 1978. This would be the target of the tribute. The build would culminate in a street legal “replica” bike as a tribute to a great racer and positive industry influence.
Builders
Riders U selected two noted industry professionals to build the tribute bike.
Michael DiSabatino - A CPA by day and avid motorcyclist when time allows. Mike was the founder and developer of SportbikeS.com, once the highest-trafficked motorcycle site (Acquired by VerticleScope in 2007). Mike worked as the project manager for the bike build and is the owner of the bike.
Thad Wolff – an AMA superbike racer from the 1980s who battled Spencer, Rainy, Lawson, Cooley and the others, as well as, podiumed with the greats. Thad was the AHRMA Superbike Champion in 2007. Thad still works in the motorcycle industry as a Southern California’s road race track instructor and professional rider - we have all seen him as "the" rider in many motorcycle ads, test reports and commercials. Thad became the project engineer taking full responsibility for the actual modifications.
